Our recommendation is to begin with the end in mind. Once you know when the kegs need to be in the market, you can use that information to determine the best timeline for getting your wine on the water!
Bulk Transport & Logistics:
We recommend either shipping the wine to Free Flow Wines or local bulk storage facility in small volume (1000+ liters) disposable containers or in Flexi-tank containers for large volumes (10,000 – 24,000L).
Timelines
Please allow 6-8 weeks to complete all paperwork and compliance for your first kegging or canning. We recommend scheduling your production run two weeks after the wine is expected to arrive at the port.
Disposable Totes:
These are a good option for moving smaller quantities of wine long distances. When shipping disposable containers, proper pallet size must be used along with strapping and shrink wrap to prevent breakage. Disposal & recycling fee will apply.
For any tote options used that do not include the standard tri-clover fitting or meet the offload minimum, please reach out to the FFW Production Planning team and allow for an additional lead time for wine
preparation.
Recommended: SpaceKraft Disposable Tote
Fittings: Please ensure selected tote option includes standard tri-clover fittings; this allows Free Flow to offload wine to make necessary wine adjustments. Wine adjustments cannot be made in octabins/spacecraft vessels.
Offload Minimums: The minimum volume to offload into a FFW tank (without additional charges) is 1,100 gallons per varietal. Please see Wine Delivery Policy for additional information.

Importer Clearing
All imported wines need to be cleared by a registered importer. We recommend using the same importer that you use for your cased goods and, if possible, to consolidate the bulk wine shipment in your cased goods container.
Importer Taxes - Requirements are different for each location.
Free Flow Wines - Sonoma can receive wine In-Bond or Tax-Paid. For wine received In-Bond, federal excise taxes will be paid by Free Flow and invoiced back to you at the large producer rate upon shipment of kegs into the market.
Free Flow Wines - Bayonne, NJ (Filling Station East) You'll need to have your customs broker file a bulk wine tax-deferred entry (not a regular tax-deferred entry). The duty, HMF, and MPF will be paid, and the wine will be fully customs cleared, but federal excise taxes will be deferred. Tax-Paid wines will not be accepted at this location.
If you have questions about origin pickup, ocean freight, customs duties and processing, or drayage, please contact info@freeflowwines.com.
